Elite Guides | A new name

The story starts about 13 - 14 years ago when Scott Kirkhope, the Director of Elite Guides started to work as a self employed mountaineering instructor/guide. A blog at the time was in his name and it seemed logical to just continue the theme and Scott Kirkhope Mountaineering was started. It was soon shortened to Kirkhope Mountaineering which became a limited company 4 years ago.

Kirkhope Mountaineering has grown year on year, and a massive part of this growth and success has been the team of qualified and experienced peers that has been employed on a freelance basis. This team of amazing people has helped Scott to grow the business to the level that it is at. Every year we now have hundreds of guided/instructional days delivered across Scotland and this team have helped Kirkhope Mountaineering and Scott to establish a business that delivers a high-quality of mountain adventures and customer service.

There are many reasons for the name change to Elite Guides, some are from a business perspective, obviously. The outdoor market has changed a huge amount in the last decade, and we need to promote ourselves to potential customers in a different way. Also, this is no longer just a business about Scott and the experiences he offers, it is about the wider number of guides and instructors that have got us to this point, and will help us to continue to succeed into the future.

Scott will still be out guiding and instructing on the hills along with answering the many emails and phone calls that need to be dealt with. This is a business that he started and is a big part of but so too are the other guides and instructors and our returning and new customers. You can still expect the same level of customer service and the same high-quality adventures in the mountains, as we share the places we love, just under a new name. A name that says a bit more about what we do and what you can expect - Elite Guides.
