All of our Winter Mountaineering Courses in Scotland are run out of Fort William with Ben Nevis and Glencoe on our doorstep and the Cairngorms just a short drive away. We have a huge choice of venues to help you get the most out of your Winter Mountaineering Course. All of our Winter Mountaineering Courses are available for single or multiple days, any time of the week and the length of the course will vary depending on your needs. Taking into account your current skills and knowledge, we can build a package based around your needs. Your guide can work with you and the weather to help you achieve the most out of your Winter Mountaineering course.
This course is ideal for those that have experience in Winter walking and are looking to move onto classic mountaineering routes like Ledge Route and No.2 gully. We will cover movement, avalanche awareness and route selection, rope work and placing of traditional gear. This may also be the course for you if you have experience of rock climbing but have never been out in winter. Max ratio 1:2.
Even if you've had years of experience out on the hills in winter, there is always something you can learn. This course is ideal for those who have experience of Winter mountaineering but would like to improve on their rope work, maybe they're looking to make it 'slicker' in preparation for a trip away or just so you can climb here in Britain more efficiently.
