Book one of our Glencoe Mountain Guides to explore the wonders of Glencoe. Glencoe is one of Scotland's most famous mountain landscapes and is steeped in both human and mountain history. As you arrive in Glencoe from the south along the A82, you are greeted by the very recognisable Buachaille Etive Mor.
This fantastic peak has a wealth of rock climbing and scrambling on it with Curved Ridge being a classic, along with routes like Agag's Groove and January Jigsaw. Book a Curved Ridge Guide to lead you up this mountain through some very impressive scenery and take in the exposure.
To the North of the Glen lies the dramatic skyline of the Aonach Eagach. One of Scotland greatest and well-known ridge scrambles. Our Aonach Eagach Guides can safely take you along this skyline adventure.
The mountains of Glencoe are made up of some of the oldest sedimentary and volcanic rocks in the world. Glencoe once one a super volcano which collapsed into itself, known as a Caldera. It has since been shaped by thousands of years of glaciation and erosion.
More recently human use has removed trees from most of the slopes to make way for sheep and other livestock. All of this history has helped to shape the Glen into the fantastic location that we know it to be today. The steep walls of the Glen rise up above the road with the Aonach Eagach to the north and the massif of the Bidean Nam Bian, Buachaille Etive Beag and Bauchaille Etive Mor to the south and can be very intimidating but also very accessible.
It is a fantastic location to go Rock Climbing and Scrambling, with so much choice you may want a guide to point you in the right direction to make the most out of your time. Why not hire a guide for a Glencoe Guided Walk?
