Climb the the Inaccessible Pinnacle with a Skye Cuillin Guide

The Inaccessible Pinnacle on the Skye Cuillin ridge is probably one of Scotland's most famous and recognisable peaks. This magnificent fin of rock stands proud of the summit of Sgurr Dearg like a knife. Join Elite Guides with an Inaccessible Pinnacle Guide to climb this iconic peak.

This fin of rock perched on the side of Sgurr Dearg, otherwise known as the In Pinn, is a must do for anyone wanting to complete the Munros, there are plenty of stories of people staling at the final step due to the exposure and technical elements needed to climb the In Pinn. Using an In Pinn Guide to climb the In Pinn is a great way to know that you are safe whilst you make this exposed and historic climb. Your guide can explain what is required from you at certain points of the climb, to help 'keep you at ease' and achieve your goal for the day. Once you are at the top it isn't over yet, you still have the very memorable abseil from the top to get back down.

An Inaccessible Pinnacle Guide starts at £330 for the day and we can accommodate most group sizes but please do get in touch first to discuss your options. The use of helmets and harness can be included in your booking.

It may be possible to add on another one or two summits to your In Pinn day but which summits will depend on the weather and your group size.

Frequently asked questions.

Is Climbing the In Pinn for me?

Can we only one use guide for our team of 3 and 4, other companies can do it?

The Simple answer is yes. But at that ratio, you have so few options available to you should everything not go to plan. Maybe the weather isn't ideal and half of your group will have to wait in the cold and rain for the other pair to go over the In Pinn. This is usually about an hour for each climb. So we can but you have to be aware that you are limiting your options and potentially lowering your chances of success.

What happens if the weather doesn't allow us to climb the In Pinn?

We will offer you some alternative routes/objectives for the day that suit the weather and your experience levels. Maybe some alternative Munros or scrambling routes. On some rare occasions, your guide may have a free day on either side of your booked date and can swap, but we cannot guarantee that.

Do I need climbing experience for the In Pinn?

You do not need any experience but the better prepared you are the easier and more enjoyable you will find the experience. You are not required to have any technical knowledge but a good head for heights and some experience of abseiling or having been to a roped climbing wall will certainly help you. The more experienced you are may influence how successful you are if the weather isn't ideal.

Is kit included?

We can include the use of helmets and harnesses for your In Pinn Trip.
